Long time collaborators and close friends, Landon George and Andy Loebs, join together in the studio setting with the simple intention of composing and preforming musical ideas that have been unreachable due to circumstanceโ€“ for instance, access to a grand piano, microphones to do the piano justice, and a thoughtful audio engineer to accommodate the session.

This goal is realized in Writing Prompt Volume 1. With one free day and the COVID-19 pandemic becoming more manageable, on February 20th, 2021, George and Loebs enter Cat's Claw Studio in Asheville, North Carolina, USA.

Cat's Claw was an obvious choice, as it was managed and operated by Mike Henry Johnson; a fantastic listener and musician in his own right, Johnson's ear and musical sentiment proved to be essential in capturing this session.

Upright bass and drums were first tracked, then piano and trombone overlayed. This workflow encouraged a particular vibe compositionally, opening new doors and pathways, before unseen.

Although this volume of Writing Prompt features only George and Loebs, the duo have aspirations of opening the project to more collaborators, with the intention of featuring artists and further investigating "prompt."
